With over 1.3 million solar panels installed on carport sites nationwide, sustainability runs in the veins of M Bar C Construction. Since the birth of M Bar C in 1975, we have been committed to sustainability. And with our expansion into the solar carport market in 2005, we honed in on creating innovative solar energy solutions. With more than 400 MW of solar carports installed, sustainability is woven throughout the tapestry of the M Bar C culture.
We’re Energy Efficient
New to our latest office building, M Bar C team members didn’t even inhabit the building until energy-efficient lighting was installed. LED lightbulbs use at least 75% less energy, and last 25 times longer, than incandescent lighting. This simple shift greatly reduces our energy demand while also limiting replacements and waste.
Just like Home
38 million plastic bottles go to a landfill in America each year. Plastic bottles can take up to 700 years to dissolve. Because of this, just like home, our kitchen is stocked with reusable dinnerware, utensils, glasses, and mugs. Sure, it’s still a race to the kitchen for your favorite mug each morning, but these intentionally provided items vastly reduce unnecessary waste.
We Recycle
With over 95 recycle bins throughout the entire scope of our building, there’s never one out of reach. Each ton (2000 pounds) of recycled paper can save 17 trees, 380 gallons of oil, 4000 kilowatts of energy, and 7000 gallons of water. This represents a 64% energy savings, a 58% water savings, and 60 pounds less of air pollution! These blue recycle bins, play a bigger part in sustainability than most realize.
We Drive Hybrid
Classified as a Low Emission Vehicle (LEV) III and Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (SULEV) 30 by the California Air Resources Board Emission Standard, Toyota Prius’ answers M Bar C Constructions commitment to sustainability. With a fleet of ten M Bar C branded Toyota Prius’, our staff has access to environmentally responsible transportation to and from various solar carport sites.
We’ve Gone Digital
Our meeting spaces provide ample viewing screens; allowing presentations and agendas to happen digitally versus the previous printed standard. William Gleason, M Bar C Network Administrator shared “M Bar C implemented processes that removed the previously required need to print. This allows the user to proceed directly to the next step, whether that’s faxing or emailing necessary forms. This shift not only limits our paper consumption but also makes the process more efficient.”
The M Bar C Values state the importance of Integrity, always doing right even in tough situations. Regardless of these shifts sometimes come with challenges and changes to previous norms, these shifts are right. Intentional commitment to sustainability is necessary to not only fulfill our company values but also for creating a better future for us all.
